Beyond Journey’s End’ Are Getting a Magical Treat This October

Just when we think that the anime world can’t surprise us anymore, a title like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End comes around and reminds us that there are infinite possibilities to a story, no matter how familiar they seem at first glance. Even though it originally premiered in 2023, Frieren saw a recent spike in popularity that elevated it to must-watch status. Whether you just found out about it or liked it before it was cool, Crunchyroll has excellent news for you: The anime series is getting an unbelievable Blu-ray + DVD edition that hits shelves by the end of October.

The extra-special limited edition comes in a gorgeous box that simulates the suitcase that Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki in the original Japanese, and by Mallorie Rodak in the English dub) carries around in her adventures. It also comes with a 200-page artbook that highlights the anime series’ gorgeous visuals, art cards, stickers, and an acrylic standee, as well as shikishi art boards featuring Frieren and several other characters that she meets in her adventures.

If you don’t want any of those collectibles but would still like to own Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Crunchyroll is also releasing a regular Blu-ray + DVD combo on September 23. Both the limited and regular editions are Part 2 of Season 1, meaning that they feature Episodes 17 to 28 of the extensive first season. Without spoiling anything, these are the episodes in which Frieren arrives at a new location to take the First-Class Mage Examination, which is divided into three difficult tasks.

Is ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ Renewed for Season 2?

Fans would riot if Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End didn’t get picked up for an additional season. The new season has been confirmed for a while, but, more importantly than that, the series has already landed a return date: We will continue following Frieren’s journey in January 2026, which is not too far away. This means that a full trailer is bound to be unveiled in the coming months, and with Anime Expo just around the corner, it’s likely that we will get some news about the series during the event.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is brought to life by Madhouse, Inc. – the animation studio that is responsible for creating some of the most popular anime series in the world, including Death Note, Overlord, and the 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter. The studio also animated highly acclaimed feature films like Paprika and Perfect Blue.

Crunchyroll releases the regular Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Blu-ray + DVD combo on September 23, and the limited edition on October 21. You can check them out at the official Crunchyroll online store.
