July couldn’t have started any better for Hearties who have been eagerly counting down till the grand return of When Calls the Heart. The Hallmark series was renewed for another run earlier this year, but a specific date has still not been set. While that may be disheartening, series star Erin Krakow, who portrays Elizabeth Thornton née Thatcher, has the best news for fans as she took to social media on Wednesday, July 2, to mark the start of filming on When Calls the Heart Season 13.
During the Season 12 finale of When Calls the Heart, which aired on March 23, the series received a Season 13 renewal, to comprise 12 new episodes that are now in production. In Krakow’s video, you can see her hand-in-hand with fellow cast members Hyland Goodrich (portraying Jack Thornton Jr.), Jaeda Lily Miller (Allie Parks), and Kevin McGarry (Nathan Grant). “We got homesick,” the actress wrote, adding a winky face emoji. “When Calls the Heart is back in action, filming Season 13!”
The official When Calls the Heart Instagram page also blessed fans with more behind-the-scenes shots, all featuring your favorite stars. Andrea Brooks, who plays Faith Carter in the Western drama, was captured on set in doc mode; Johannah Newmarch (Molly Sullivan) was featured in another image, and one more showed Martin Cummins undergoing an amusing transformation into his businessman character Henry Gowen.
Who Will Return in ‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 13?
With the aforementioned stars featured in the show’s latest set photos, Season 13 will certainly see them return, along with several other returnees. One such star is Melissa Gilbert, who appeared in a guest capacity in a two-episode arc of When Calls the Heart Season 12. Last month, Jack Wagner, who plays Judge Bill Avery, confirmed Gilbert’s return as Inspector Georgie McGill, reminding fans of her character’s romantic history with Bill. The Little House on the Prairie star also previously spoke of her re-appearance in the show’s upcoming season, saying:
“When I go to Vancouver to the set and I walk in, and it’s this old town, I feel like there I am. It’s a strange and wonderful feeling, and I’m very excited to go back. I’ll be back and forth to Vancouver a bit more, I think, this year.”
