Ti West’s Haunted 81% Rotten Tomatoes Gem Gets a Chilling New 4K Steelbook From Dark Sky Selects

Thanks to Ti West‘s beloved X trilogy, one can argue that the filmmaker has owned the horror genre in the 2020s thus far. His collaboration with Mia Goth will help define this spooky era, but the director has been around for over two decades. Films like Pearl and MaXXXine didn’t just come out of nowhere. West’s signature vintage style existed long before we knew the names Pearl Douglas and Maxine Minx. Now, one of the director’s 2010s cult classics is getting a haunting new 4K edition.

The Innkeepers will be getting a 4K/Blu-ray combo pack steelbook from Dark Sky Selects. This release will feature new artwork of an eerie-looking keyhole frightening up the front cover while a mysterious ghost is coming out a hole in the wall on the back cover. The inside artwork features the nightlife of The Yankee Pedlar Inn in all its ghastly glory. This is the second 4K edition of Innkeepers announced this year. It was previously revealed earlier this month that Second Sight would be giving the haunted house nightmare a box set release. However, that’s primarily a UK release. This Dark Sky version will come with all the new special features of that Second Sight version. That list includes “A Lasting Memory: an Interview with Director Ti West”, “Let’s Make This Good: an interview with Actor Pat Healy”, and “Our Dysfunctional World: an interview with Producer Larry Fessenden”.

What’s ‘The Innkeepers’ About?

The Innkeepers follows two employees (Healy and Sara Paxton) of this seemingly cozy New England hotel, The Yankee Pedlar Inn. However, this is supposed to be one of the most haunted hotels around. However, when they try to investigate and find proof of the paranormal before the inn closes its doors for good, The Yankee Pedlar Inn’s final days may be final in more than one killer way.

While far from a box office hit when it was released in 2011, The Innkeepers holds a strong certified-fresh 81% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. These new 4K editions will help more eyes get put on this creative ghostly gem. Especially with West’s name becoming more popular in recent years. If you needed any more reason to check out the film, the director supposedly got the idea for The Innkeepers on the set of The House of the Devil. This was a set that had its own ghost stories attached to it.

The Innkeepers is currently streaming for free on Tubi and Peacock. However, you can pre-order Dark Sky Selects 4K steelbook on their website. It’s set to be released on August 26th and is $34.98 USD. This is their second West release in the last few months. They also recently announced a steelbook for The House of the Devil.
