Dwight Manfredi might run the streets of Tulsa, but Neal McDonough now runs the state — and he’s not going anywhere. Collider’s Maggie Lovitt caught up with the Tulsa King star ahead of his new film Guns and Moses, where McDonough not only gushed about working in Taylor Sheridan’s crime-filled world but confirmed that he’s officially coming back for Season 4.
“I’m so happy to be on Seasons 2, 3, and now we’re about to start Season 4 in October of Tulsa King,” McDonough revealed. “And now that I’m the governor of Tulsa — of Oklahoma — I’m having a ball. I’m having a great time.” McDonough’s comments arrive just days after Sylvester Stallone confirmed via Instagram that Tulsa King Season 3 had wrapped filming. In a video post thanking the cast and crew, Stallone teased big surprises for the upcoming season and went even further in an edit to the caption, adding:
“We will start filming Season 4 very soon and, hopefully, after that, Season 5!”
While Paramount+ has yet to officially renew Season 4, both Stallone and McDonough are treating it like a done deal. And McDonough’s enthusiasm for the Tulsa King team — and its creator — is clear: “Taylor, what he’s done for all of us is just incredible. I love working for Taylor. I love working with David Glasser.”
Would Neal McDonough Join ‘Landman’?
Of course, with Tulsa King, Yellowstone, and Landman, Taylor Sheridan has assembled a cowboy cinematic universe that rivals Marvel in both star power and storytelling scope. So who else is on McDonough’s collaboration wishlist?
“Oh, Billy Bob [Thornton] is just tearing it to shreds. It’s not even fair. His delivery. Here’s a guy who’s in his 70s who looks amazing,” McDonough said, referencing Thornton’s role in Landman. “One of the best scenes I’ve ever seen in my life, I think it was in 1883 when he comes into the bar and he tells everyone how he’s just going to slay everyone if they don’t do as he says. Wow!”
McDonough added, “I love Billy Bob Thornton. What a great human being he is. We’ve met, and we chat, and he’s just a terrific guy, and I wish him nothing but the best.”
And while McDonough hasn’t yet completed the Sheridan trifecta with Landman, don’t count him out. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on Tulsa King, NOLA King, and the rest of the Sheridan-verse. Guns and Moses will be in theaters from July 11.
