Sometimes love happens after the island. In a beautiful and touching Instagram post, Survivor 45‘s Katurah Topps and Sabiyah Broderick have revealed they are a couple. Featuring a carousel of images together in the real world, the Survivor alums shared their love for the world. Of course, the comment section was filled with excitement and adoration from fans and fellow castaways. Fellow Survivor 45 player, Austin Li Coon, who found himself in an island showmance wrote, “HARD LAUNCH!!!” while two-time Survivor legend Eliza Orlins posted, “SO BEYOND HAPPY FOR YOU TWO AND FOR YOUR LOVE!!!! So glad youāre now sharing this with the world! Love you both!!! š«¶š«¶š©·š©·šš”
Survivor has been known to celebrate diversity since the launch of the New Era of the game. While they may not have been on the same beach together, their similar stories helped to bring visibility to the season.
Katurah and Sabiyah Never Played On the Same Beach During ‘Survivor 45’
Despite playing on the same season, neither Sabiyah or Katurah were able to play together on the same beach. Sabiyah’s game was relegated to loss after loss as she was part of the Lulu Tribe, considered one of the worst in the show’s history. After the tribe’s first loss, Hannah Rose quit, causing the breakdown of her alliance of numbers. After the tribe’s third straight Immunity Challenge loss, she was a casualty of elimination. Though much of her time was spent game-related, one of her major attributes to the game and Survivor history is her ability to help fellow Lulu Tribe castaway Emily Flippen change her outlook on the game, allowing her to become a fan favorite.
Katurah Topp was only one Fire-Making Challenge victory away from potentially winning the season. Having an exceptional social game, Katurah was able to outlast almost every single one of her Belo Tribe. Her downfall ended up not being able to trust Jake O’Kane at the most opportune time that would knock out the season’s eventual winner. Unfortunately, her inability to win the Final Four Fire-Making Challenge caused her to become the last member of the jury. Katurah was able to share her story as a Black queer woman during the season.
Though neither Katurah or Sabiyah will be on Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, their season will be represented by two others from Survivor 45, Emily Flippen and winner Dee Valladares. Katurah and Sabiyah’s impact on both players is likely to serve as a reminder of their arcs during the upcoming season. As it turns out, filming is underway, and they likely have not seen the big news drop from Instagram.
