All of Us Are Dead premiered on Netflix on January 28, 2022, and quickly garnered the attention of many. Its appeal reached global standards as it quickly became one of the most-watched television series on Netflix. So it came without much surprise that by June 2022, the zombie series would be renewed for a second season on the streamer. However, despite the widespread appeal of the series, production on a second season has stalled for several years, and it has become a source of frustration for fans of the beloved series. With production on the second season set to kick off this year, there has been an update to the sophomore season’s call sheet.
The series, All of Us Are Dead, is a live-action zombie series based on the webtoon of the same name. The second season has announced a raft of new cast members to join the series. Per a report from News1 via Anime News Network, Min-jae Lee, Si-eun Kim, Ji-hoon Seo, Ga-yi Yoon, and Jae-won Roh have all joined the cast for the coming season of the show. This will see them join the first season’s cast of Ji-hu Park, Chan-young Yoon, Yi-hyun Cho, Lomon, In-soo Yoo, and Yoo-mi Lee — who have gone on to garner widespread attention after the show’s release in 2022. Chun Sung-il wrote all 12 episodes of Season 1 and is billed to return once more to write the second season.
The premise for Season 1 of All of Us Are Dead runs on a very simple yet effective premise. A science experiment that goes terribly wrong at a local high school quickly infects many of its students and turns them into zombies, while trapping any survivors inside in the process. Contact with the outside world is severely limited, and with quickly dwindling resources, the remaining students have no choice but to use whatever they can find in the school to survive the infected assault. Audiences get to enjoy the series as it features truly grounded, human characters battling to hold off the zombie threat.
What To Expect in ‘All of Us Are Dead’ Season 2?
All of Us Are Dead is part of a collection of Korean series that have greatly impressed on Netflix. These include K-drama hits like Sweet Home and Squid Game, both of which endured three-year waits between seasons. Si-eun Kim and Jae-won Roh, who have been revealed as new additions to Season 2 of All of Us Are Dead, appeared in Squid Game Season 2. The sophomore season will look to answer some lingering questions regarding halfbies and what exactly the remaining Hyosan students will do now that they’re outside the school. Series director Lee Jae Gyoo had previously provided an overview of what to expect, saying:
“The story itself was set with Season 2 in mind, so if Season 2 comes out, it might be a little more interesting and expanded story. If Season 1 was a survival period for humans, there is a sense of humor, but Season 2 feels like it will be a survival period for zombies.”
Filming of Season 2 of All of Us Are Dead is set to begin next month. There’s currently no word on when All of Us Are Dead Season 2 will release. Stream the first season on Netflix.
