Fresh from performing on-stage at Back to the Beginning, Ozzy Osbourne‘s farewell concert in Birmingham, England, Yungblud is headed out on the road. The English singer was singled out for his performance at the star-studded metal extravaganza, and will now be setting out on tour to support his new album Idols, which was released last month. The tour kicks off on July 25 in metal-mad Romania, and will wind through Europe, then make its way to Japan, the United States, and Canada before looping back to the continent to conclude in Italy on Halloween. The tour will then resume next April for a series of dates in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The musician has had a long association with Osbourne: Yungblud considers the British metal legend to be one of his idols, and both Ozzy and his wife, Sharon, appeared in Yungblud’s 2022 music video for his song “The Funeral.” Before the concert, Yungblud met with Osbourne, giving him a custom-made sterling silver gold cross with diamonds, inscribed with a good-luck message; the two had a heartfelt talk prior to the performance. Yungblud went on to cover the 1972 Black Sabbath ballad “Changes” at the concert, to great acclaim. The musician dropped into Sharon and daughter Kelly Osbourne‘s podcast last year, where the two noted his similarities to the legendary Black Sabbath frontman.
Who Is Yungblud?
Born Dominic Harrison in Doncaster, England, Yungblud has made a big splash in the metal scene. Still only 23, he has had three #1 albums in the UK, including his most recent, Idols. He released his first single in 2017, and followed that up with a successful EP the next year; his music has been featured on a number of movie soundtracks, including The Fall Guy, Renfield, and Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Shaw. In addition to his upcoming tour, a new documentary about the singer, Yungblud. Are You Ready, Boy? will be screened in theaters on August 20 and 24, in 30 countries worldwide. The film will combine Yungblud’s concert performances with behind-the-scenes documentary footage.
Osbourne has suffered from Parkinson’s disease in recent years, which has hindered his ability to perform; he has stated that the Back to the Beginning concert will be his farewell performance. The show featured an all-star lineup of hard rock and metal bands, including Guns’N’Roses, Tool, Alice in Chains, Pantera, and Metallica, who opened for Osbourne before he performed first solo, and then with the original lineup of Black Sabbath, who reunited for the first time in two decades.
Tickets for Yungblud’s Idols Tour are on sale now. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
