‘One-Punch Man’ Season 3 Confirms Cast, but One Star’s Return Is Stirring Controversy

Viz Media has officially acquired One Punch Man, as Season 3 is just a few months away at this point. It’s been some time since we last laid eyes on Saitama, with the second season premiering way back in 2019. While the return was not certain previously, it’s set in stone now with Season 3 of One Punch Man arriving later this year. Ahead of Anime Expo this week, Viz Media offered an exciting update for the coming season as the English dub voice cast for the upcoming third season was revealed. The negativity with which the second season was greeted means that Season 3 has triggered both fears and hype in equal measure.

Much of the team that voiced the characters in Season 2 are set to reprise their roles, but a voice actor who has been in the news quite a bit recently because of some controversy is joining the team. Taking to their official X account, Viz Media revealed the English dub voice cast for Season 3 of One Punch Man, and it includes the controversial return of Corina Boettger to voice Terrible Tornado (after replacing Marieve Herington from Season 1). Boettger was in the news after locking horns with the higher-ups while voicing Paimon in the video game Genshin Impact. Boettger would ultimately depart the project, but remains a part of the industry, as highlighted by their role in Season 3 of One Punch Man.

One-Punch Man Season 3 is scheduled to premiere this October. The series is prone to lengthy spells between seasons, and the latest means it’ll be six years between Seasons 2 and 3. Should the new season’s release follow a similar format to that of Season 2, then we can probably expect the English-dubbed episodes to arrive a few months after the Japanese with English-subtitled broadcast. The rest of the voice cast for One-Punch Man Season 3 includes Saitama, voiced by Max Mittelman, Genos, voiced by Zach Aguiltar, Hellish Blizzard, voiced by Laura Post, King, voiced by Rich Brown, Silverfang, voiced by John Demita, Atomic Samurai voiced by Kyle Hebert, Child Emperor voiced by Sara Cravens, Zombieman voiced by Vernon Dew, Pig God voiced by Brook Chalmers, Superalloy Blackluster voiced by Zeno Robinson, Flash Flash voiced by Lex Lang, Puri-Puri Prisoner voiced by Ray Chase, Handsome Kamen Amai Mask voiced by Ben Lepley, and Garou voiced by Greg Chun.

What Is ‘One Punch Man’ About?

One-Punch Man Season 3 was first announced back in 2022 and was later confirmed to be in production by J.C. Staff, the studio responsible for developing the somewhat controversial second season. The series is based on a manga created by ONE and first published in 2009. The series follows Saitama, the titular One Punch Man, who has trained himself to be able to take down any foe in a single blow. While easily able to defeat any monster or villain that might threaten him, Saitama has found himself becoming bored with not having any challenges in his life. Season 3 of One-Punch Man could be its most exciting season yet as it covers some of the manga’s greatest chapters and the Monster Association story arc. Should the team at J.C. Staff deliver, it could overall be an extremely compelling season.

One-Punch Man returns with Season 3 this fall. Stay tuned to Collider for further updates about the anime.
