A new batch of players has entered the Squid Game thanks to Funko. The figure collection company has revealed a new set of Pop! Vinyl figures based on the characters featured in Seasons 2 and 3 are set to come out this year. Unfortunately, not all your favorite characters have made the cut in this latest batch.
Six new figures have been added to the Squid Game collection, with a listed price of $14.99 each. For the players, it’s Player 149: Geum-ja, Player 120: Hyun-ju, and Player 001. For the Pink Guards, it’s just No-Eul, which makes sense since she’s the only named guard that has a story that viewers follow in the show. And lastly are the giant dolls that were featured in the Jump rope game in episode 3, Young-hee and Chul-su. These figures are available for pre-order on third-party sites, such as Entertainment Earth, and are scheduled for release sometime this month.
Funko has released Squid Game figures in the past. For Season 1’s set, it consist of the four main players we follow in the show, the Masked Guards, and Young-Hee from the Red Light, Green Light game. And prior to this latest set, Player 456 got a new figure based on Season 2, as well as the Front Man making his Funko Pop debut.
What’s Next For ‘Squid Game’?
Squid Game Season 3 immediately became a massive hit following its release last week. According to Netflix, it generated over 60.1 million views and over 368 watched hours, thus landing it in the number 1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 Non-English Shows Overview in the global charts. Additionally, the latest season received a Certified Fresh score of 78% and an average audience score of 50% on Rotten Tomatoes.
While Season 3 is said to be the end of this South Korean drama, the franchise isn’t over. In 2024, it was announced that a U.S. adaptation of Squid Game was in development and would be produced by David Fincher. This spin-off was teased during the final scene in Season 3, but the show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed in an interview with Variety that the scene in question isn’t connected to the U.S. adaptation. Additionally, Hwang has made it clear that there is no room for a fourth season, but has “considered the idea of a spin-off.”
All three seasons of Squid Game are available to stream on Netflix.
