Madonna Used Her iPad During Hamilton, Claims Anthony Ramos

Madonna was in the room where it happened, but she didn’t catch much of Hamilton, according to Anthony Ramos.

During an appearance on the Thursday, June 19, edition of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Ramos, 31, claimed the “Vogue” singer was a little distracted when she went to see him and the rest of the original Hamilton cast perform on Broadway.

Host Andy Cohen got Ramos to spill some tea by asking him, “Who was the most terrifying celebrity to spot in the audience during your Hamilton days?”

The Twisters actor responded, “The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face.”

Ramos originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, the son of the titular character played by Lin-Manuel Miranda, in the off-Broadway production of Hamilton when it launched in January 2015. Ramos and his fellow castmates — Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., Renée Elise Goldsberry, Christopher Jackson and Daveed Diggs — became household names following the musical’s success.

The cast recently reunited to mark Hamilton’s 10th anniversary with a special performance at the 78th annual Tony Awards on June 8.

Hamilton changed my life,” Ramos reflected on the reunion during an appearance on Good Morning America earlier this week. “It was probably one of the biggest moments of my life, not just my career. It was incredible.”

Meanwhile, Ramos’ ex, Jasmine Cephas Jones, who originated the roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds, recently recalled to Us the electricity in the air when the show opened on Broadway back in 2015.

“When we opened, it was like a rock show,” the actress told Us at the Tony Awards on June 8. “I remember Lin [Manuel-Miranda, the writer and star] came out and it reminded me of, like, when Michael Jackson performed at the Super Bowl.”

She continued, “He just stood there and he took his glasses off and people were just screaming. Like, that’s how it was when Lin first came out [to take his bow]. I remember feeling like this crazy adrenaline rush, and it was so strong that I almost, like, blacked out.”
