The summer of horror continues this week with the release of M3GAN 2.0. The horror comedy sequel to Blumhouse’s breakout 2023 AI panic hit is ready to be the next big misadventure of the genre. In the two years since M3GAN slashed onto the scene, the new horror icon has been one of the genre’s most marketable pieces. This killer doll has gotten action figures, apparel collections and her very own Funko Pop. Now, ahead of the deadly next chapter, Funko has returned with their latest M3GAN figures.
Reported exclusively by Bloody Disgusting, M3GAN is getting two new Funko Pop figures. The first one is based on the original film and sees the high-fashioned android performing her popular dance moves. The other stylish Pop is M3GAN from 2.0 in her latest pink-centric combat outfit. These add to Funko’s army of M3GANs. The popular vinyl figure company previously released a damaged M3GAN Pop based on the 2023 film and her appearance in Funko Fusion. This was a video game released last year that saw franchises like M3GAN, Shaun of the Dead and Jurassic Park come together in Pop form.
M3GAN Has Become a Pop Culture Icon
These Funko Pops are just one of the many ways M3GAN has taken over the horror scene. With the first film making over $160 worldwide, many different Blu-ray and 4K editions were made for this torturous AI doll alongside a large dance-worthy closet full of merchandise. This includes “Ultimate” and “Tooney Terror” action figures from NECA. If that wasn’t enough, that company also released a life-size M3GAN doll to please any horror fan’s blood-soaked heart. The voice actress for M3GAN, Jenna Davis (Lisa Frankenstein), has been promoting this new murderous toy on her Instagram.
After almost two decades’ worth of films reinventing the modern horror landscape, Blumhouse has finally found their genre mascot. M3GAN proved she could go toe-to-toe with other slasher titans like Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Chucky. The latter of which hasn’t been happy about her recent inclusion in the sub-genre. The second film will once again follow M3GAN, who reluctantly has to team up with her creator Gemma (Allison Williams) and her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) to take down a new rogue government AI known as AMELIA (Ivanna Sakhno). The sequel looks to crank up horror and action while also paying homage to the genre’s past classics like The Terminator.
When Does ‘M3GAN 2.0’ Release?
M3GAN 2.0 crashes into theaters on June 27th. The first film is also streaming on Hulu and Amazon Prime Video. The new M3GAN Funko Pop collection will be available for purchase the same day as the sequel on their website.
