July Is Set To Be a Great Month for Fans of an Iconic British Movie Trilogy

The world loves a trilogy. Whether it’s The Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, The Dark Knight Trilogy, or many others, a perfect three-piece film experience is often the most satisfying of cinematic achievements. When it comes to those across the pond in the UK, many look no further than the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy for their favorite trio of movies, featuring Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013).

Created by Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, and Edgar Wright, the trilogy has millions of fans worldwide, with many likely to be very happy with the franchise’s latest big update. Officially, as of July 1, two of the three Cornetto movies are heading to streaming site Starz, although they will only be available on the Starz app. The two movies are widely regarded as the best of the three: Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, with the former receiving a certified fresh 92% critics’ rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and the latter 91%, both higher than The World’s End‘s 89%.

At the box office, both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz proved similarly successful. The first in the trilogy turned a tiny $6 million budget into a relatively enormous $30 million worldwide, earning six times its investment. Following up on Shaun of the Dead‘s success, Hot Fuzz was awarded a bigger $16 million, proving almost as successful and making five times its investment with a global total of $80.6 million, and a further $36.6 million made in home media sales. The World’s End, despite receiving the biggest budget of the trio at $20 million, could only manage $47 million at the global box office.

A Cornetto Trilogy Star Is Currently Topping the Box Office

Ahead of his pending debut as Hagrid in the new Harry Potter series, Frost is currently topping the box office charts as part of a stacked ensemble in Dean DeBlois‘s hotly anticipated live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake. Alongside the likes of Mason Thames as Hiccup, Nico Parker as Astrid, and Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick the Vast, Frost has helped the remake soar to acclaimed heights, which includes receiving a 9/10 from Maggie Lovitt in her review for Collider, and a box office haul of over $250 million after just one week.

Two of the beloved Cornetto trilogy are heading to Starz this July. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for more stories.
