Paramount+ subscribers miss the old Superman. In the same week that the new DC superhero movie premieres in movie theaters, a Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) movie has climbed its way to the top of the streaming charts. FlixPatrol reports that Night Hunter, a thriller that stars Cavill as a Minnesota detective on the hunt for a serial killer, is among the top 10 most-watched titles on Paramount+. The movie first debuted in 2018, and it didn’t get the best reviews back then.
Night Hunter is one of those movies that it’s pretty easy to get involved in. The story doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel to work: Viewers follow Walter Marshall’s (Cavill) passion to get to the bottom of the case that he’s investigating. The crime is also a compelling one to watch — the body of a young woman is found inside a lumber truck, and a suspect is arrested. The problem is, the suspect has wild behavior that challenges the detectives’ wit, and we start to wonder if he’s guilty or just wants to see chaos.
Despite the intriguing plot, Night Hunter didn’t seem to do it for critics. The movie earned a dismal 14% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but fans were more tolerant with it, giving the movie a slightly better 51% audience score. Paramount+ subscribers don’t seem to mind, though, since the movie has been topping the charts for almost two weeks. Whether Night Hunter is bad or not, it might be worth your time to check out the answer to the movie’s big mystery.
Who Else Is in ‘Night Hunter’?
The cast of Night Hunter alone makes it worth the watch. Aside from Cavill, it also features Ben Kingsley (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Stanley Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada 2), Alexandra Daddario (Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches), Nathan Fillion (Superman), Minka Kelly (Ransom Canyon), Brendan Fletcher (Reacher), and Dylan Penn (Who Invited Charlie?). The movie is directed by David Raymond, who made his feature film directorial debut with the thriller flick.
Aside from Night Hunter, Paramount+ subscribers are also bringing several other action-thrillers to the top 10 of the most-watched titles on the platform. Movies making the list include Training Day with Denzel Washington, The Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew McConaughey, Gasoline Alley with Bruce Willis, and Novocaine with Jack Quaid.
