Recently, on June 28, the trailer for the upcoming Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was released via Crunchyroll, with the excitement now palpable. With just nine days remaining until the Japanese release of the film, more details are now being revealed about the anime series‘ biggest step yet. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle follows in the footsteps of the 2020 release, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which broke records by becoming the highest-grossing movie of 2020, with the upcoming Infinity Castle predicted to better its predecessor’s $507 million.
Now, following the pulse-racing trailer that promised more high-octane animated battles, eye-popping visuals, and dastardly tricks from Muzan Kibutsuji (Toshihiko Seki/Greg Chun), it has now been revealed, as cited on Radio Times, that the upcoming Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will officially be 155 minutes (2 hours 35 minutes) long. This makes it considerably longer than the previous theatrical outing for the relatively young anime franchise, which ran at just 117 minutes (1 hour 57 minutes).
Based on the best-selling manga series created by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is directed by Haruo Sotozaki (Cowboy Bebop: The Movie), who also directed 2020’s Mugen Train. Ufotable, the animation studio behind the likes of Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works and Knight Hunters, will helm the production, which is now confirmed to have an age rating of PG12. Sadly, although the movie is scheduled to debut in Japan in the coming weeks, UK and US fans will have to wait much longer, with the movie hitting theaters on September 12.
What is ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’ About?
The first in a trilogy of movies, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is reportedly being released instead of a Demon Slayer season 5, with the conclusion of the journey of young Tanjirou, his friends, and the Hashira ready to unfold into magnificent chaos. With no release date scheduled for the entire trilogy, although some are predicting for one to release each year until 2027, the knowledge surrounding the upcoming first installment is all we have to tantalize the tastebuds. With that in mind, the synopsis for the first in the trilogy reads, “The Demon Slayer Corps are drawn into the Infinity Castle, where Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the Hashira face terrifying Upper Rank demons in a desperate fight as the final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji begins.”
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will be released in US and UK theaters on September 12, 2025. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
