Anime fans know that this will be a pretty great summer to be a fan of Japanese animation. In order to tease what’s coming our way, Crunchyroll unveiled a complete line-up of the titles that are debuting or returning to the platform as soon as the season starts, and fans should keep it at hand in case they don’t want to miss any of the exciting anime series that have been highly anticipated.
Summer will kick off with the new series Takopi’s Original Sin. Based on a manga released in 2021, the sci-fi story centers around an octopus-like creature that crash-lands on Earth and strikes up a friendship with a nine-year-old girl. The series debuts on June 28. Shortly after that, on July 1, it’s time to dive into two other new series: Detectives These Days Are Crazy! and Necronomico and the Cosmic Horror Show. Both series debut on the same day of the highly anticipated Season 4 of Rent-A-Girlfriend.
Fans can hardly wait for July 3, the day that DanDaDan returns for its celebrated Season 2 — whose compilation movie has already made waves at movie theaters. In the new episodes, Okarun (voiced by Natsuki Hanae in the original Japanese and by A.J. Beckles in the English dub) will face his biggest threat yet: the Avatar of Hatred, or Evil Eye (Yusuke Sasaki/Aleks Le). Along with DanDaDan, the new isekai adventure The Water Magician also debuts on Crunchyroll, as well as the musical thriller Kami Tsubaki City Under Construction. Different from most anime series, the latter is based on a video game.
Which New Anime Series Are Debuting On Crunchyroll This Summer?
Highly popular My Dress-Up Darling returns for Season 2 on July 5. The different series centers around a boy’s passion for hina dolls and cosplay. The next day, a new series with wild concepts debuted: Gachiakuta is a dystopian show in which criminals get literally kicked out of the edge of a wealthy city, while Hotel Inhumans centers around a hotel that houses deadly assassins. On the same day, Nyaight of the Living Cats reimagines a zombie apocalypse with fierce cats instead of deadly walkers.
On July 9, The Rising of the Shield Hero returns for Season 4 after a two-year hiatus, and on the next day Dr. Stone continues its Science Future arc after a three-month interruption. Nine days later, Kaiju No. 8 smashes into the platform with its second season, which will bring Kaiju no.9 front and center and put the Kaiju Defense Force under a new leadership.
Aside from all these titles, other anime series will continue to roll out new episodes as their seasons progress. They include One Piece, TO BE HERO X, Witch Watch, Anne Shirley and others.
