Clint Eastwood has developed a loaded resume after directing and starring in iconic movies for more than 50 years, but one of his war movies that recently celebrated its 10th anniversary just got a disappointing streaming update. Eastwood directed American Sniper in 2014, which tells the story of Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper), a Navy SEAL who saved lives during his service and after. American Sniper has been streaming on Netflix for all of 2025, but unfortunately, the streamer has announced that the film will leave the platform on June 20. American Sniper was well-received by critics and audiences upon its release, earning a “certified fresh” 71% from the former and an 84% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. It also grossed nearly 10 times its budget at the box office, earning $547 million against a $58 million production cost.
American Sniper won the Oscar for Best Sound Editing, and it was nominated in other categories such as Best Picture, Best Lead Actor, and more. In addition to Bradley Cooper, American Sniper also stars Luke Grimes as Marc Lee. Grimes has become known for his role as Kayce Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone. It was reported a few weeks ago that Clint Eastwood had plans to direct another movie after Juror #2, but a shocking development a few days later turned the world on its head. Eastwood came out with a statement saying that the entire report, which contained a full interview with him, was complicated fabricated. Eastwood’s statement did not explicitly confirm whether he has plans to direct another movie, but given that he’s approaching 100 years old, it’s likely that his filmmaking career is over.
