’Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey Reveals If He Plans to Stick With the Romantic Drama or Move On

Bridgerton Season 4 officially wrapped filming and is expected to release sometime next year. The fourth season will adapt the third Bridgerton book: An Offer From a Gentleman, which focuses on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Now, as fans await more news – like a full release date or maybe even a trailer – for Benedict and Sophie Baek’s (Yerin Ha) love story, Bridgerton‘s Season 2 star is promising he’ll be around for as long as they’ll have him.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jonathan Bailey, who plays Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, talked about his recent global success with Wicked as well as the highly anticipated Jurassic World Rebirth. He also talked about Bridgerton, and his experience in returning for Season 4. Bailey also promised there would be no Irish goodbye from him with the series if he could help it:

“I’ve never been someone who’s like, ‘Thanks, bye.’ It’s not in my nature.”

Please Give Us More Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton!

When a series first starts, it usually takes a few seasons to get its footing (if it’s not cruelly canceled). That wasn’t the case for Bridgerton. After the first season, which focused on Daphne Bridgerton’s (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Bassett’s (Regé-Jean Page) love story, next up was Anthony’s. Season 2 adapted The Viscount Who Loved Me, which focused on Anthony and Kate’s story. The show made some changes to lose some of the repetitiveness of the plots between books 1 and 2. Anthony and Kate (Simone Ashley) gave us an enemies-to-lovers-to-yearning story the likes of which we hadn’t seen. The season quickly became a fan-favorite. In Season 3, as par for the course when a new love story comes in, Anthony and Kate took a step back from being the focus, but fans still ate up every scene the couple was in.

Briefly, the couple navigated life as Viscount and Viscountess in Bridgerton House, before deciding to ensconce themselves away on a trip as they tried for a baby. When the couple returned successful, their love story continued as they grew their family. Season 4 will begin with the Masquerade Ball, mentioned at the end of Season 3, so there will likely not be a big time jump at first, which hopefully means, since Ashley and Bailey are both returning, fans will get to see the couple with their newborn (in the books, the baby is a boy named Edmund). Their roles, since Anthony is the Viscount, are ostensibly more important in the books than the other past couples as the series progresses. With Bailey eager and willing to return to Bridgerton, it would be remiss to let the couple fall to the wayside if Ashley is also as game as Bailey.

You can watch all three seasons of Bridgerton now on Netflix. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
