Brad Pitt’s new F1 movie will race into theaters everywhere this weekend, but ahead of its arrival, one of the older classics from the star is dominating streaming charts. Pitt stars alongside Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender in Inglourious Basterds, the 2009 WWII movie following a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers who plan to assassinate Nazi Leaders that lines up with a theater owner’s intriguing mission. Inglourious Basterds is currently streaming on both Paramount+ and Starz, and it’s one of the most popular movies in several countries, such as Namibia, Oman, and even Slovenia. The film earned a “certified fresh” 89% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 88% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. It also grossed $321 million at the box office against a $70 million budget.
Inglourious Basterds comes from the mind of acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, and in addition to the film being a major financial success, it helped win Christoph Waltz an Oscar and earned nominations in seven other categories. Tarantino burst onto the scene in the early 90s with his work on Reservoir Dogs, but it wasn’t until 1994’s Pulp Fiction that he established himself as one of the most formidable directors in Hollywood. In the early 2000s, he kicked off the Kill Bill franchise with Uma Thurman, and he also directed Kurt Russell in Grindhouse (2007). Tarantino’s most recent work came on Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, which is receiving a sequel at Netflix at the hands of David Fincher. Tarantino is reportedly writing the script for the film, and he’s heavily involved as a producer.
