Brad Pitt is on top of the world right now with his F1 movie dominating the box office and receiving widespread acclaim, but more than 10 years ago, the Oscar-winning star led a WWII thriller that just got a new streaming home. Pitt stars alongside Jon Bernthal and Michael Peña in Fury, the 2014 WWII film following a tank commander (Pitt) as he leads his battalion across the front in Germany in 1945. Fury had been streaming on Prime Video until a few days ago when it left the platform, but there’s no need to fret — the film is now streaming for free on the Roku Channel. Fury earned scores of 76% from critics and 85% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also grossed $211 million at the box office on a $68 million budget.
David Ayer wrote the script for Fury, and he even stepped behind the camera to direct the film. Pitt and Ayer are due to reunite for Heart of the Beast, an upcoming action-adventure film that also stars J.K. Simmons. Ayer has teamed up with Jason Statham for his last two movies, first on The Beekeeper in 2024 and more recently on A Working Man. Both films have stumbled into profound streaming success, further cementing Statham’s status as a legendary action star. Ayer also famously directed Suicide Squad in 2016, which was rebooted by James Gunn years later. Fans have called to #ReleaseTheAyerCut after Ayer has alleged that the studio altered his version of the film and ultimately released something entirely different than what he had envisioned. Zack Snyder’s campaign for the same led to the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
