Brad Pitt is in the middle of promoting his next movie, F1, but before that he starred in an action thriller that’s become a hit on streaming despite a major obstacle. Pitt stars alongside George Clooney in Wolfs, the crime thriller following two rival fixers who both prefer to work alone. However, their paths cross when they’re called to the same job, forcing them to set aside their differences to finish their toughest job yet. Wolfs premiered on Apple TV+ last year on September 20, and the film has found continued streaming success, currently trending in the top five globally on the streamer. Wolfs was a straight-to-streaming release, so it did not report any box office numbers, but it earned scores of 67% from critics and 72% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.
While Wolfs has been moderately well-liked by critics and audiences, the film hasn’t been without its controversy. Apple TV+ announced that a sequel to Wolfs was in the works before the film had even been released, which presented as a major show of faith from the streamer. However, after the film’s streaming debut, director Jon Watts confirmed to Collider that a sequel was no longer in the works after a bit of a clash with Apple TV+. Watts confirmed to Deadline shortly after that he was never told about the film being released straight-to-streaming, and once the announcement was made, he immediately halted work on Wolfs 2 with no plans to resume. Watts is also known for his work on the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy and for creating the Star Wars Disney+ series, Skeleton Crew.
