Benson Boone is taking on his haters.
To celebrate the release of his sophomore album, American Heart, the Grammy nominee dropped a tongue-in-cheek music video for his new single, “Mr. Electric Blue,” on Friday, June 20.
The hilarious visual finds Boone, 22, poking fun at the keyboard warriors who endlessly troll him on social media. It begins with him wearing a “One Hit Wonder” T-shirt during a fictional meeting with his agent at Industry Plant Records.

“We need a new gimmick,” the agent (played by Boone’s songwriting partner Jack LaFrantz) declares before informing the singer that he needs to raise $10 million in seven days to recoup the label’s losses from a series of career failures.
Boone immediately gets to work by taking odd jobs, including walking dogs, landscaping and selling his signature jumpsuits at a discount.
Still desperate for cash, Boone ups the ante by serving frozen treats from a “Moonbeam Ice Cream” truck (in a nod to the viral lyric from his hit “Mystical Magical”) and getting shirtless and sudsy while washing cars (à la Paris Hilton in her infamous Carl’s Jr. commercial and Jessica Simpson in her “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” music video).

“Hey, you’re that guy who sings ‘Beautiful Things,’” a young girl purchasing ice cream exclaims to Boone before ruthlessly saying to his face, “Your music is terrible.”
Boone then takes one final gig as a pool boy. He starts to break a sweat in the sweltering sun and decides to sneak in a quick dip in the water. Boone climbs onto the diving board and turns around to do one of his famed backflips, only to look over and see a “No Backflips” sign.
A dejected Boone returns to Industry Plant Records in an “I Hate Benson Boone” tee toward the end of the video.

“I tried everything I could to make you $10 million, and I couldn’t do it,” he tells his agent. “But please, you gotta give me one more chance, OK? I made $168, and I promise you it’s worth every penny.”
The agent quickly interrupts Boone to ask, “Did you not get my fax? Everything’s fine! I sold your entire catalog to retail chains, fast-food chains and movie theaters. You’ll be the most overplayed artist in the world — and I’ll be rich!”
Boone immediately breathes a sigh of relief and says, “That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”

“Mr. Electric Blue” is the fourth single from American Heart, which was also released on Friday.
In addition to “Mystical Magical,” the album includes “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” and “Momma Song.”
Boone’s American Heart World Tour begins in August.
