Alan Tudyk’s ‘Resident Alien’ Season 4 Already Boasts an Out of This World Rotten Tomatoes Score

Two episodes in, and Resident Alien is back to form in Season 4. Following a strong opening episode, the most recent second, “The Lonely Man,” proved to be one of the best in the series so far, even becoming the highest-rated episode of the entire series on IMDb. However, there are still eight more episodes to come, with this fourth season’s high quality hopefully ready to last the distance.

The Alan Tudyk-led sci-fi dramedy has created a small but dedicated fanbase by producing an innovative and immersive drama that blends sci-fi concepts with deeply human dilemmas. In doing so, the series has always produced incredibly high critics’ and audience scores on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The first season impressed with a “certified fresh” 94% critics’ score and a 92% audience rating, with Season 2 earning a perfect 100% from critics and just 74% from audiences, and the third season boasting a 92% audience score and no critics’ score to date. In light of that, Season 4 has blown all its predecessors into outer space with an astronomical score pairing of 100% from critics and 94% from audiences.

However, the most recent season’s scores come from just 6 critical reviews and fewer than 50 audience scores to date. This lack of input from Rotten Tomatoes users is indicative of the wider problem the show has been facing, with ratings declining ever since its first season. Ever since the show debuted to over 1.5 million viewers across both Syfy and the USA network, the steady decline of Resident Alien is made all the more cruel when realizing just how strong the show’s reception is to those who do tune in. The most recent figures from the Season 4 premiere saw just over 500,000 viewers recorded, a far cry from the heights of Season 1.

What is Alan Tudyk’s Highest-Rated Rotten Tomatoes Project?

Thanks to the combination of every season’s scores, Resident Alien has a series rating of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. An incredible, near-perfect score, it shockingly isn’t even Tudyk’s highest-rated project debuting in 2021, with that crown going to Devil May Care‘s 100%. Elsewhere in his storied television career, Tudyk’s Doom Patrol boasts a 98% score, with his voice work in Harley Quinn turning in a 96% critics’ rating. More recently, the likes of Andor and Creature Commandos have received 96% and 95% scores, respectively, with the only real stain on the actor’s recent work coming from WondaLa‘s 50%.

Resident Alien airs weekly on USA. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
