Stephen King stories make some of the best pages to screen horror flicks. The gifted writer has given us many brilliant features like It, Carrie, The Boogeyman, and many more. But Pet Sematary remains one story that keeps on giving with more horror and thrill. The movie has several versions, and each person has a favorite based on the generation they belong to. Nonetheless, the 2019 remake by director duo Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer is fresh in fans’ minds, and it has finally found a streaming home.
Per ComicBook, Pet Sematary is now available again on Paramount+. The movie, which was available on the streamer, has returned after a hiatus for fans to enjoy at leisure. The movie follows the Creed family, who relocate from Boston to rural Maine. When they discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home, tragedy strikes, and the patriarch, Louis, turns to his neighbor for help, setting off a perilous chain reaction that brings back an unspeakable evil from the dead.
The movie had a mixed reaction from fans and critics, given that it changes some crucial details when adapting the film. Starring Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, and John Lithgow, the movie earned $113 million worldwide, making it a commercial success. While critics were kinder to the remake with a 57 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, fans only gave it a 33 percent rating. Still, with good sound design and compelling performances, the film is a decent watch for fans of the genre.
John Lithgow Is the New Dumbledore in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Reboot
Speaking of the remakes, Lithgow will be next stepping into the shoes of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, aka the beloved headmaster of Hogwarts in the upcoming Harry Potter reboot series. The actor is taking his job very seriously as he understands the weight of expectation that comes with a legendary character like Dumbledore. He previously told Collider,
“It’s pretty scary, but it’s certainly not anything I would dream of saying no to. Look, I’m about to turn 80 next year. I’ll be 80, I’ll be 86 or 7 at the wrap party for this one. It’s a wonderful winding down role.” He further shared, “I’m really excited about it and just revisiting Harry Potter in depth these days. I just want to do it justice.”
Pet Sematary is streaming on Paramount+. Harry Potter series will begin filming this summer in England. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
