You’re going to want to stay out of the water — again. Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and Universal is going all-in on the blockbuster that made people fear the ocean (and piers, and boats, and skinny-dipping). Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the original man-versus-shark thriller or one of the last land-dwellers who’s never seen it, summer 2025 is packed with ways to relive (or finally experience) the mayhem of Amity Island.
The biggest news? Jaws is swimming onto IMAX screens across the country at the end of August, giving fans the rare chance to see Bruce in all his 70mm glory. Tickets are already on sale, so grab yours now before the ocean runs dry. If you’re not near an IMAX theater, don’t worry — Jaws is also diving back into Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide, keeping its theatrical run alive with beachside beers and heart-pounding dread. And if you’re planning a trip to Los Angeles, don’t miss Jaws: The Exhibition at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, opening September 14, where you can dive deeper into the film’s legacy, production history, and, yes, probably the mechanics of that famously uncooperative shark, Bruce.
There’s also new 50th anniversary merchandise, a 4K UHD SteelBook release, and an immersive “Amity Island Summer” event at Universal Studios Hollywood that promises to bring the town’s doomed beach season to life (hopefully without the actual fatalities). From replica signs to retro swimsuits and collector’s items, there’s no shortage of ways to show your love for cinema’s original apex predator.
Where Can I Watch Jaws Now?
Can’t make it to a theater? Good news: Jaws and its three sequels will swim onto Netflix on July 15. That’s right — you can binge all four movies from your couch, pool float, or shark cage (we won’t judge). The full lineup includes:
- Jaws (1975) – The classic that started it all, starring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw as three unlikely allies trying to take down a relentless great white.
- Jaws 2 (1978) – A second shark, same unlucky town. Scheider returns, along with Murray Hamilton and Lorraine Gary.
- Jaws 3-D (1983) – Because it was the ’80s and everything needed to be in 3D. This one stars Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, and Louis Gossett Jr. as SeaWorld employees facing another chompy crisis.
- Jaws: The Revenge (1987) – Infamous for its bonkers premise (yes, the shark holds a grudge), this installment stars Michael Caine, Lance Guest, and a returning Lorraine Gary, and famously bought Caine a lovely house.
Jaws comes to IMAX next month. Grab your tickets now.
