Tom Hardy is no stranger to war movies. In fact, that’s how the actor got his start. Back in 2001, the actor joined an insanely stacked call sheet alongside legends like Ewan McGregor and Josh Hartnett in Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down. Perhaps that’s part of the reason why, when he was asked about his favorite films, the actor responded with a classic war pic at the top of the list. According to Far Out, Hardy previously heralded Oliver Stone’s iconic Vietnam War-centered feature, Platoon, as his number one picture. Now, audiences can head to Prime Video to check out the film, as it finds itself streaming alongside the platform’s extended list of content.
During his interview, Hardy was sure to mention the near impossibility of picking a favorite flick, naming other filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Gaspar Noé, and more as the best in the biz.
When it comes to Platoon, the Venom actor said,
“I just think the end is really classy. I just thought it was a really beautifully put-together film. And Platoon has got — with the exception unfortunately of Charlie Sheen, everybody else in it is dope. Every actor and every character that I need as an English guy [is there]. You know what I mean? Every accent, class, creed, colour, and religion is in there for me, so it’s a study book. It was something that had a taste across America [from] working class to upper class. It just had everything in it.”
