The Chosen’s creator, co-writer, and director, Dallas Jenkins, isn’t reinventing the wheel. Many of the fans behind his hit series already know the original story, whether they’re members of the Christian religion or are just familiar with the Bible. Right now, the team is busy working on the penultimate season, which will follow the days leading up to Jesus Christ’s (Jonathan Roumie) crucifixion. And, although Jenkins admitted to never being “excited to shoot anything,” he’s excited to leave his unique stamp on the vision behind one of the Bible’s most infamous stories.
Chatting with Variety about the highs and lows of filming the sixth season, Jenkins said,
“Filmmaking is very hard. I don’t love it. I always love having done it. So I’m excited to bring it to the world when it’s done, because I think that we’ve written something and are about to film something very special and unprecedented in any portrayal of the crucifixion ever done. And Amazon just announced that we’re releasing the finale of Season 6 as a standalone feature film that I’m very excited about that. But until we film it and it works, I’m overwhelmed and nervous.”
