If you, like so many of us here at Collider, have found yourself wrapped up in The New York Times’ 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century, then you might be playing catch-up. After all, there are a copious number of titles on the list, and it’s incredibly probable that several have flown under your radar. The good news is that a lot of the highly-regarded movies are on streaming, passing the ball into the viewers’ court. What’s even better is that a few of them, like Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, are going to be streaming completely free of charge. In the case of the 89% Rotten Tomatoes sci-fi flick that sees Tom Cruise step into yet another leading role, the film is set to launch on Tubi beginning on July 1.
Clocking in at number 94 on the Times’ all-encompassing list, Minority Report finds itself among good company, wedged in between Joachim Trier’s The Worst Person in the World and Tony Gilroy’s Michael Clayton. The moody thriller takes place in the not-so-distant future of 2054, a time in which a brand-new crime division known as Precrime, works diligently to get criminals off the street ahead of their outlawed behavior. As directed by a trio of psychics known as “precogs,” agents like Cruise’s chief John Anderton track down the would-be felons and bring them in. But, when John finds himself wanted for a crime he has yet to commit, a fast-paced game of cat and mouse ensues as the once-celebrated officer fights to clear his name.
