A new image from Avatar: Fire and Ash has been released, and it features two of the most important characters from the future of the franchise. Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) left the events of Avatar: The Way of Water knowing that the Sully family would come after him after the death of Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), meaning that the villain might still have a couple of tricks up his sleeve in the new movie. The antagonist of the story appears in the image of Fire and Ash alongside Spider (Jack Champion).
The relationship between the two characters from Avatar: Fire and Ash is a very complicated one. As revealed in the previous sequel directed by James Cameron, Spider is the biological son of the original Colonel Quaritch. While the villain and the young boy are directly related, Spider was raised by Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his friends. Spider was taken by the clone version of Quaritch, but managed to find his way back to his found family by the time the credits rolled on The Way of Water. Will Fire and Ash give father and son the opportunity to know each other better? Audiences will find out when the movie premieres on December 19.
Avatar: Fire and Ash will follow Jake and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) as they recover from losing their son in The Way of Water. Besides presenting audiences with a narrative about grief, James Cameron will introduce a new group of Na’vi called the Ash People. Pandora still hides plenty of secrets. Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), and the rest of the Sully family will have to gather the courage to fight against everything that is coming their way in Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The Talented Cast of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’
James Cameron has assembled an impressive group of artists in order to bring the world of Pandora to life. Avatar: Fire and Ash will mark the return of Kate Winslet as Ronal – a very important member of the Metkayina community. Winslet worked with Cameron during the development of Titanic, and the actress is ready to star in yet another massive hit that could take over the global box office. David Thewlis will also be seen in Avatar: Fire and Ash. The Harry Potter actor will portray Peylak, with details surrounding his character still hidden in a cave in Pandora.
Avatar: Fire and Ash premieres in theaters on December 19. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
