‘Wheel of Fortune’ Is Taking the Show on the Road This Summer — and You Might Be the One Spinning for Big Money

Do you love Wheel of Fortune and wonder how you would handle the chance to be a contestant? Well, you may just be in luck because Wheel of Fortune Live! is hitting Vegas, and you could be one of the contestants chosen to play. While the Live version won’t feature the iconic and beloved hosts, Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White, that we know so well, it’s still a fabulous opportunity for Wheel of Fortune fans to try their hand at playing the game — and maybe prepare for their shot at being on the real show one day.

When is ‘Wheel of Fortune Live!’ Coming to Vegas? Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune Live! hits the Vegas strip on July 11 and 12, and July 18 and 19, at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., where you can catch the show live on stage. The game is played “tournament-style”, where multiple groups of three will be randomly selected from the audience for the chance to win up to $10,000 in cash prizes, per the Wheel of Fortune Live! website.

The game will otherwise be played identically to the show, with the contestants shouting out letters, buying vowels, and solving puzzles, all the while hoping to make it to the Bonus Round and win big money. The prizes include the aforementioned cash prizes up to $10,000, as well as vacation packages, like the show offers.

Audiences Have the Opportunity to Audition For the Show

Between stage rounds, where the chosen contestants are actively playing, audience members are able to show off their puzzle-solving skills and win prizes from their seats by engaging in mini-puzzles. It’s seemingly very interactive, and allows those who weren’t chosen to play the actual game on stage, to play along to some degree. Even more exciting? Fans of the show will be given the opportunity to audition on-site for a chance to appear on a future episode of the televised Wheel of Fortune, hosted by Seacrest and White.

Suzanne Prete, president of Game Shows for Sony Pictures Television, spoke about the decision to do a live show in Vegas.

“We’ve been looking for ways to expand the Wheel of Fortune brand and create opportunities for our fans to engage in new and exciting ways. This live show is a fun, interactive first for enthusiasts to play a version of their favorite game show in their hometown. Our collaboration with Paris Las Vegas will give Wheel Watchers and Las Vegas tourists a chance to spin, win and solve puzzles, just like they see on TV.”

It’s certainly a worthy idea, since most would admit that they play along with the contestants at home from their couch while watching the show. Now, fans of the game show have a chance of being plucked from the audience to play the game, and the bonus option of being able to audition for the televised show. It’s a win-win all around, and an exciting endeavor for the show to go on.
