From Agatha Christie obsessions to critically acclaimed crime dramas, some of the best content from across the pond is available to stream in the US on BritBox. Perhaps the most exciting new addition to the streamer’s line-up is the six-episode series, Outrageous, the latest in a long line of adaptations based on the notorious Mitford sisters. Following in the footsteps of the Amazon miniseries, The Pursuit of Love, which detailed the eldest sister’s novels, Outrageous, co-directed by Joss Agnew and Ellie Heydon, takes the infamous raucous stories and gives them a modern refresh with gorgeous color design and a provocative edge.

The series, which features a selection of top performers, including the likes of Bridgerton‘s Bessie Carter, James Purefoy (The Following), Isobel Jesper Jones (The Serpent Queen), Joanna Vanderham (The Runaway), Shannon Watson (The Jetty), Zoe Brough, and more, released on BritBox just two days ago and is already impressing both audiences and critics. Officially, on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Outrageous has earned an impressive early score of 83%, albeit from just six reviews thus far. Compared to the aforementioned The Pursuit of Love, Outrageous currently falls just short of its 88%, although the new series’ score could very well increase in the next couple of weeks. A synopsis of Outrageous reads:

“Based on the story of the Mitford sisters, six sisters who refused to play by the rules and whose often-scandalous lives made headlines around the world. Set in the 1930s, it is a tale of betrayal, scandal, heartache, and even imprisonment.”
