Today’s arrival of the official trailer for Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s I Know What You Did Last Summer certainly has many of us diehard fans talking. And we mean that in the best way possible. The tone of the movie was on full display thanks to the witty screenplay co-penned by Robinson and Sam Lansky, while the younger generation stepped up to the plate and commanded the audience’s attention. Then there were some wonderful throwbacks to a certain local beauty pageant, and we got to see Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Julie James hurl her iconic line at the cloaked killer after all these years.
Along with the trailer, Extra dropped a behind-the-scenes conversation between the leading final woman and Tommy DiDario, where the two caught up chatted about the actress’ decision to return to the fold all these years later. Through their chat, DiDario unsurfaced previously unreleased information surrounding the career path that Julie James pursued after the events of the first two movies — a life trajectory that will inform how she moves forward with both the hook-handed-killer, Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Ray Bronson, and the fresh batch of young blood.
“She’s very different. I think you’ll see shades of that girl because I want those to be in there, but she’s lived in. She’s in her 40s. She’s carried this a long time. I think she’s figured out how to deal. She’s a professor in sort of the mind and trauma and PTSD field. So, I think she’s figured out a way to put herself in a position in her life so she can deal every day with what happened to her in her teens. She’s a little edgier. She’s funny.”
