Teenage Dream: The Complete Collection, which launched in 2012 and features hit #1 singles like “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.,” and more, has become a streaming hit once more in America, trending on Spotify 13 years later. The album has reportedly sold more than six million units worldwide since its launch, making it one of the most popular albums ever. “Last Friday Night” and “California Gurls” were also among the other songs on the album to reach the status of #1 single.
Katy Perry joined Michael Jackson with the release of Teenage Dream as one of only two artists to have an album with five #1 singles — Jackson did it with the release of Bad in 1987. Not only did Teenage Dream: The Compete Collection debut at #1 on the Billboard 100, but it even earned the fabled “platinum” certification three times over. Perry even released a deluxe reissue of the album, which included new songs like “Part of Me,” “Wide Awake,” and “Dressin’ Up.” Perry’s “Part of Me” also reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Teenage Dream was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards, but the trophy ultimately went to Arcade Fire for The Suburbs. Eminem also earned a nomination for Recovery, with other recognitions going out to Lady Antebellum for Need You Now and Lady Gaga for The Fame Monster.
