The weekend has finally arrived. DC fans believe a man can fly because Superman is in theaters. The James Gunn film starring David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel has seen a ton of merchandise in the lead up to the first cinematic DCU adventure. This has included apparel collections, Funko Pops, and more. Now, the latest Superman figures come from Thrilljoy.
A part of Thrilljoy’s PIX! Vinyl figure collection, Superman will soon be joining the relatively new collectible company’s list of franchises. So far they’ve done figures for The Corpse Bride, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, The Conjuring, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Lord of the Rings. These are just some of the popular brands they have figures for. Now, Thrilljoy has their first wave of PIX! Superman pieces up for pre-order. This includes the Man of Steel, Lex Luthor, and Krypto the Superdog. Superman will be the main figure while Krypto will be the “Chase” variant, and Lex will be the “Super Chase” variant.
A Metropolis Full of Merchandise
Alongside these new Thrilljoy PIX! figures, Superman has been everywhere when it comes to marketing. The Man of Tomorrow already has two waves of Funko Pops, which include other characters from the film, like Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi). If PIX! reminds you of Funko’s products, that’s because Thrilljoy was co-founded by Funko’s former CEO Brian Mariotti. Funko has dominated this figure scale for almost two decades, especially where DC is concerned. Some friendly competition is welcome in this market.
On top of Funko and Thrilljoy, Superman also got brand-new DC Multiverse figures from McFarlane Toys and a premium Hot Toy figure from Sideshow Collectibles. Corenswet’s bright supersuit has been perfect for the toy treatment, with the film’s merchandise flying off store shelves. It’s going to be exciting to see what new DCU products will be made in the wake of the film. Thrilljoy will most likely be back with more Superman waves. Hopefully heroes like Hawkgirl and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) will be in their future.
