Apple TV+’s Hit Sci-Fi Series Returns With a Rotten Tomatoes Score That Redeems Season 1’s Lukewarm One

While you await the third season of this brilliantly created sci-fi series, starring Jared Harris and Lee Pace, we have fantastic news for you, confirming just how much viewers will be obsessed with the new chapter. Foundation returns with another season on July 11, only two days away, but nearly two years since Season 2 ended. This upcoming installment has already gained approval from critics as its Rotten Tomatoes rating has been officially unveiled, boasting a perfect score similar to its sophomore run and redeeming its debut season.

As of July 9, Foundation Season 3 has a whopping 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on seven reviews that praise the show in its entirety, including those that brought it to life. This is a clear difference from Season 1’s 72%, with critics noting at the time that it struggled to “wrangle the behemoth that is its source material into a fully satisfying series” despite the impressive performances. Season 2, on the other hand, was a significant improvement and was largely favored by critics, given its 100% fresh rating from twenty-six reviews.

In Collider’s review of Foundation‘s new season, Therese Lacson wrote:

“It’s fair to say that the Apple TV+ series from David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman has done the impossible in creating something that is not only engaging but holds to the soul of what Asimov’s story is all about.”

The Struggle to Save Humanity Continues in ‘Foundation’ Season 3

Inspired by Isaac Asimov‘s collection of novels, Foundation tells the story of a band of rebels’ arduous journey to bring down a tyrannical empire and save humanity after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Season 3 continues the noble efforts of these rebels and takes place 152 years following the turbulent events of Season 2. And amid the struggle, a new threat emerges in the form of the Mule, a powerful telepathic warlord who seeks to conquer the galaxy.

Foundation Season 3 will comprise ten weekly episodes, scheduled to conclude on September 12. Harris and Pace return as lead characters Hari Seldon and Brother Day, respectively. Other main stars confirmed to reappear are Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick, Laura Birn as Demerzel, Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn, and Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk. Meanwhile, Alexander Siddig and Troy Kotsur join as Dr. Ebling Mis and Preem Palver, respectively. The critically acclaimed season will also see Rowena King as Kalle, Cherry Jones as Foundation Ambassador Quent, Brandon P. Bell as Han Pritcher, Synnøve Karlsen as Bayta Mallow, Cody Fern as Toran Mallow, Tómas Lemarquis as Magnifico Giganticus, and Pilou Asbæk as The Mule.
