Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is finally winding down at the box office after a few weeks in theaters, but another of Tom Cruise’s projects just got an exciting update to get the adrenaline pumping. Cruise has starred in more than his fair share of successful movies over the years, but nothing has even come close to reaching the same level as Top Gun: Maverick. The film was a hit among critics and audiences, and it grossed over $1.4 billion at the global box office. It’s already been announced that Top Gun 3 is in the works, and during a recent interview with ScreenRant to promote F1: The Movie (Brad Pitt), director Joseph Kosinski teased a “big” idea coming in the third installment:
“Ehren Kruger is writing the script as we speak. It’s a big idea that I spent almost a year developing — working with some friends at the Navy and Lockheed. And yeah, Ehren’s into it now, so we’ll see how it comes along. It was about coming up with an idea that — again — felt like a new challenge. Something that opens up the story in a way you just can’t let go. And I think the idea is so ambitious. That’s what’s exciting to me.”
