’9-1-1’s Oliver Stark Shares a Pride Month Message for Fans

For eight seasons, Oliver Stark has appeared in the role of Evan “Buck” Buckley on 9-1-1. During that time, the character has celebrated plenty of ups and downs, but his most freeing one came back in Season 7 when he came out as bisexual. The revelation would put Buck on the path to learning more about himself, as he entered a relationship with his fellow firefighter, Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.). Although the couple has since called it quits, Buck’s sexuality remains an important piece of who he is and how he moves through the world. Seeing no better way to celebrate Pride month than with an outpouring of joy, Stark took to social media to thank the fans for their support of Buck and share his gratitude for being given the chance to play the character.

Decked out in his firefighting garb, Stark smiles as he addresses the camera and says,

“This is Oliver Stark from ABC’s 9-1-1. I’m very honored to play a bisexual character on TV. I just wanted to take this chance to say Happy Pride Month.”

Of course, now we’re stuck wondering if this was a pre-recorded message or if we are catching a glimpse of filming for the title’s upcoming ninth season. Either way, it appears to be a well-deserved break for the actor who was getting dirty on set after his character and the rest of the 118 responded to an emergency.
